The 9:00 Music Ensemble

St Michael & All Angels

Episcopal Church

Albuquerque, NM

The mission of Loose@9 is helping create an environment for the congregation that is conducive to prayer and worship.  We are committed to a broad range of musical styles, from the familiar hymns of our faith as well to newer expressions of faith and prayer from various American folk and world traditions in both the Episcopal and wider community of faith.

We’re committed to being an ensemble in the truest sense of the word, a community of people who love music and work together from a variety of skill levels to blend a sound which is uniquely ours.

Instrumentalists are an integral part of our sound as an ensemble.  We work to balance and integrate a variety of acoustic instruments including guitar, piano, flute, violin, percussion, bouzouki, accordion, bass, recorder, mandolin, bassoon etc.  Instrumentalists sometimes meet extra to work on this side of how we produce and interpret our sound.

On the vocal side, we cover the similar range from 4 part harmonies to canons to solo works or parts of works.  The goal is to encourage the singing of the congregation as well as to provide music that is simply listened to in order to deepen the experience of worship.

We practice Thursday evenings from 7:00 to 8:15 in the church, and again on Sunday morning at 8:30 in preparation for the 9:00 service.  Some of us are able to participate most every week, others a few times a month or for a season

Joining a ministry is a great way to get to know others at St. Michaels, and to feel a part of the church family. If you play an instrument or like to sing, please think about joining us at the 9:00 am service.
